I decided to compete in Lilla Rogers' Global Talent Search for the first time and had a lot of fun. The Global Talent Search (GTS) is Lilla Rogers Studio's annual competition to find their next artist to represent.
I am pretty excited about the artwork I created for the first assignment. We were asked to create a pattern for sneakers that a fictitious Brooklyn shop owner, Antoinette, would wear to bike to work. The assignment had a day in the life account of Antoinette's typical day and it made it really click for me in imagining the type of person for who we were asked to create something. Below is a mock-up of my Grow Fleurs pattern on sneakers.
There are two more assignments in the competition, but only the selected top 50 semi-finalists are asked to move on to complete. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the semi-final round, but I had a lot of fun and learned a lot so I'm calling it a win for me. Congratulations to all the artists who competed! I'm very excited to see how the competition unfolds and can't wait to try again next year!
